As of September 22, 2023, Canada has extended 119,104 invitations to candidates taking part in the International Experience Canada (IEC) program for the 2023 season. Canada’s objective for this year is to welcome 90,000 newcomers through the IEC program. It’s important to note that even though over 100,000 IEC candidates have received invitations, not all of them will submit applications, and not all applicants will be approved.
Looking ahead to 2024, Iceland will be included in the roster of countries participating in the IEC program. On August 4, Canada and Iceland entered into a mutual agreement enabling young adults between the ages of 18 and 30 to work and travel freely between the two nations. Additionally, Finland is set to join as a participating country in 2024, and young professionals from South Korea will become eligible to partake in the Young Professionals and International Co-Op programs.
