What is International Experience Canada (IEC)?
For Canadian citizens aged 18 to 35, the International Experience Canada (IEC) program presents an excellent opportunity to combine work and travel abroad. Under the IEC, you can secure a work permit or visa that permits you to both work and travel in more than 30 countries and territories. Participation in the IEC program offers valuable international work experience, significantly benefiting your career advancement. It also allows you to build enduring connections and contribute to bolstering Canada’s representation in the global workforce. Furthermore, this opportunity enables you to fully immerse yourself in diverse cultures while working, facilitating the discovery of your strengths and finding inspiration throughout your journey.
To take part in the International Experience Canada (IEC) program, your country or territory of citizenship must have a Youth Mobility Agreement (YMA) in place with Canada.
Different countries have varying policies; some allow participation only once, while others permit two participations, albeit in different categories. It’s crucial to verify your eligibility based on your country’s specific regulations.
Even if you receive an invitation to apply, you cannot exceed the participation limits set by your country. Upon submission of your application, an officer will assess your eligibility, taking into account your past participations. Ensure you thoroughly review and understand all requirements before submitting an application.
