On July 25, 2023, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) conducted its fifth invitation round for the Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW) stream in Ontario. In this particular round, the OINP issued 95 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Francophone candidates. The candidates who received the Notification of Interest (NOI) from the OINP had Comprehensive Ranking Scores (CRS) ranging from 321 to 374 points. These candidates had created their Express Entry profiles between July 25, 2022, and July 25, 2023.
What is PNP?
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a Canadian immigration initiative whose objective is to empower provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to settle in a particular province for immigration to Canada. Quebec holds the authority to set its own selection criteria for economic immigration. The main objective of the PNP is to promote a more equitable distribution of immigration benefits throughout Canada. Each PNP includes at least one immigration stream that is aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system. Nominations issued through these Express Entry-aligned streams are known as ‘enhanced nominations.’
Enhanced PNP streams provide Express Entry candidates with an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly enhancing their chances of receiving an invitation for permanent residence through Express Entry. Alternatively, individuals can also secure permanent residence through a ‘base’ stream, wherein they directly apply to a PNP stream. Once they obtain a provincial nomination, the federal government processes their permanent residence application.
