Quebec Invites 1,633 Candidates in the New Arrima Draw

On July 24, 2023, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIFI) released the outcomes of the 49th invitation round on Quebec’s online platform, Arrima. In this particular round, which took place on July 20, 2023, MIFI extended invitations to 1,633 candidates to submit applications for a Quebec Selection Certificate under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program. To qualify for this invitation, candidates were required to have a minimum score of 596, possess at least level 7 oral proficiency in French, and hold a valid job offer outside the territory of the Montreal Metropolitan Community. Throughout this year, MIFI has issued invitations to a total of 9,924 candidates through the regular Arrima draws. Since Arrima’s launch in July 2019, the Government of Quebec has invited 23,241 foreign nationals in 49 draws to apply for immigration to Quebec.

What is Arrima?

Arrima is a free electronic system utilized to handle skilled worker applications in Quebec. It functions in a manner akin to the federal Express Entry system. Prospective immigrants to Quebec can generate and submit profiles for evaluation under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program (QSWP or RSWP). Eligible candidates are given a score and then ranked in comparison to other candidates within the Arrima pool. This method of selecting immigration candidates is commonly referred to as an Expression of Interest (EOI) system or, in French, “système de déclaration d’intérêt (DI).

MIFI extended an invitation to 1,633 candidates on July 20, 2023, to submit their applications for a Quebec Selection Certificate.

The main objective of the Arrima platform is to expedite the processing of immigration applications and enhance the alignment between potential immigration candidates and the demands of the labor market. Before the implementation of Arrima, Quebec relied on a paper-based application system to select immigration candidates, leading to lengthy processing times and a lack of effective matching between individuals interested in immigrating to the province and the immediate labor market requirements. With the introduction of Arrima, the Quebec government aims to streamline the process, reduce delays, and ensure a more efficient and responsive selection of candidates based on the current labor market needs.
