For the fourth consecutive day this week, Canada conducted an Express Entry draw. In this latest draw, IRCC implemented its first French category-based selection, extending invitations to 2,300 candidates who possess exceptional French-speaking skills. To qualify, candidates needed to meet a minimum CRS score of 439, which is the lowest CRS score in 2023 so far. The Express Entry system has invited a cumulative total of 9,800 candidates through six rounds of invitations within the span of two weeks.
Most of the invitations occurred during this week, with the latest round taking place on July 6. In this round, the Express Entry system invited 1,500 candidates with work experience in healthcare professions. The anticipation for this draw followed an earlier announcement that included the first-ever Express Entry invitations for 500 healthcare professionals on June 27.
Sean Fraser, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, announced on May 31 that Occupation-specific draws for Express Entry have been established by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). These specific categories are as follows:
-Healthcare
-Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
-Trades, such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors
-Transport
-Agriculture and agri-food
-Strong French-language proficiency
