To immigrate to Canada, you must take one Canadian language tests to qualify for Express Entry. Even if you choose English or French, you need to prove your proficiency and score the best you can to obtain a good score.
In fact, language tests results are one of the most important eligibility requirements for all of the three programs under Express Entry. Your proficiency can make you add more points for your CRS score.
The three immigration programs under the Express Entry system are:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program.
- Canadian Experience Class.
Canadian Language Tests and Minimum Scores
However, you must know that each program has different requirements for language proficiency. The minimum score for each program must be:
Federal Skilled Trades (FST): CLB5 for speaking and speaking. CLB4 for reading and writing.
Canadian Experience Class (CEC): For the four language abilities
- CLB7 for NOC skill level/type 0 or A jobs.
- CLB5 for NOC skill type B jobs.
Federal Skilled Workers (FSW): For the four language abilities
- CLB 7
After all, candidates award CRS points depending on their English and French test results. But, keep in mind that to prove your proficiency, you must take one IRCC approved exam.
What Language Test Can I Take?
To qualify for immigration to Canada, IRCC approves four language tests. Two for English tests and two for French.
- English language tests:
For the Express Entry system, you must take the “General Training” option. Not the “Academic Training.” There are many locations all over the world where you can take it.
Approximately fees are $320, and you should get your results after 14 days.
CELPIP:
For immigration purposes, you must take the “General Test” option. Not the “General LS Test.” In this case, you can only take this test in certain countries: Canada, Dubai, Chandigarh, Manila and New York Fees may vary between $265 and $340, and you should get your results within eight business days. However, if you need it faster, you can pay an extra fee to have it in 3-4 days.
- French language tests:
In this test, you can do both on paper or an online-based test. It also has locations worldwide, and fees are around $300. You can get your results after 3 or 4 weeks of your date exam.
This French test has locations almost everywhere, and fees are around $300. Your results should be available 15 days after the CEIP receives the session material.
Once you receive your results, you must upload a copy of them with your immigration application. So, please don’t ask the institution to send it directly to IRCC.
Language Test Validity
It is vital to know that your test results have a validity of two years. So, your results must be less than that to be valid for your immigration process.
