On December 11, 2023, Canada’s Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada made an announcement regarding the commencement of the 2024 International Experience Canada (IEC) Program. This program invites nearly 90,000 young individuals from IEC partner regions to participate, and the application period begins on December 11, 2023. The IEC facilitates reciprocal work and travel experiences for Canadian and international youths aged 18–35. Canada has established youth mobility partnerships with over 35 regions, and in 2023, it introduced new or enhanced agreements with Finland, Iceland, Ukraine, South Korea, and the UK. In the upcoming year, Canadian youth can anticipate increased opportunities for international exposure, and the IEC’s implementation of automation technology aims to streamline the application process. The 2024 season is expected to have a positive impact on employers and the tourism industry, offering participants the chance to explore Canada through work and travel.
