Every year the province of Alberta invites skilled immigrants to move and operate a business to strengthen the province’s economy. To do it, immigrants can choose from five different PNP streams depending on their needs. For entrepreneurs, the International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration program focuses on international graduates of an institution in Alberta to manage a business and receive a Provincial Nomination to support their PR application.
Alberta is located in Western Canada, rich in natural resources and home to Banff and Jasper, Canada’s most beautiful national parks. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination (PNP) from the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program award 600 CRS additional points for permanent residence in the Express Entry pool.
Alberta Entrepreneur Immigration Application process :
Candidates must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the AINP online portal. Then they will receive an EOI score within 30 days, and the highest-ranking applicants will need to submit a Business Application within 90 days after.
Application Fee: CAD 3,500
Upload required documents and forms and paid the CAD 3,500 fee.
Required documents are:
- Business Plan Evaluation Report.
- Qualified Service Provider Report (if requested).
Once your application is approved, the AINP will send you a Business Performance Agreement (BPA). At this moment, you have 14 days to sign, scan and email it.
The BPA include:
- Your business sector.
- The length of the agreement.
- Important information related to your business.
After receiving your Business Application Approval Letter, you must move to Alberta and operate your business with at least 34% ownership for 12 months, meet the conditions of your BPA and show you have a successful business.
Once you meet the conditions of your BPA, you can apply for a PNP nomination for permanent residence.
You must also submit all required documents ad pay the fee.
Eligibility for Alberta Entrepreneur Immigration
To apply under the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program under the entrepreneur stream, you must meet the following requirements:
- At least two years of full-time education in Alberta
- A Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) valid for two years
- Language test: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level of 7 in English or French.
- Must establish a new business or operate an existing business with at least 34% ownership.
- Prove a minimum of six months of full-time work experience.
Alberta Entrepreneur Immigration Business requirements
As an applicant for the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program, your business must have the potential to create economic benefit to Alberta and meet the following requirements:
- The purpose of the business must be to make a profit from active income.
- Your business must comply with any federal or municipal licensing requirements and trade certification requirements for the province.
- Your business must have a location in Alberta.
- If it is a franchise, you must prove you received support from the master franchisor to operate.
- You must own at least 34% of your business, and you must live in Alberta and be involved in the daily management of your business.
