What is Provincial Nominee Program?
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is an immigration initiative in Canada aimed at enabling provinces and territories to nominate individuals who intend to settle in a specific province for Canadian immigration. Quebec has the authority to establish its own selection criteria for economic immigration. The primary goal of the PNP is to facilitate a more balanced distribution of immigration benefits across Canada. Each PNP incorporates at least one immigration stream that aligns with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system.
Enhanced PNP streams grant Express Entry candidates an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, significantly increasing their likelihood of receiving an invitation for permanent residency through the Express Entry system. Alternatively, individuals can also obtain permanent residency through a ‘base’ stream, where they directly apply to a PNP stream. Once they receive a provincial nomination, the federal government processes their application for permanent residency.
