Study Pathway for Tech International Students

The demand for technology talents is increasing exponentially as the country continues to grow and expand their economy as a way to bounce back from the global health crisis.
“The Ministry of Immigration has seen the opportunity for Canada to leverage its world-class education system as a pathway option for immigrants to explore viable means to start life anew in the country.” Ace Cruz, Country Head of the Philippines.
The most in-demand jobs in Canada are relevant to information management, big data, data science, programming in different languages, computer and infrastructure technology management, data analytics, digital marketing, and more. These disciplines are the current skills Canadian employers are looking for as the economy continues to soar. International graduates from Canada are given a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) for up to 3 years. This helps them earn meaningful Canadian professional experience which eventually qualifies them to apply for permanent residence (PR). This is done through various programs such as the Canadian Experience Class, Temporary Residence to PR program, Federal Skilled Worker Program, and Saskatchewan Tech Workers Program.
“Expanding the foreign tech workers’ skills through studying in Canada is one of the easiest and fastest pathways for tech talents to penetrate the job market with better employment opportunities after graduation,” Cruz said.

Tech Workers Program For You

The technology sector is one of the essential factors in Canada’s economic resurgence. In provinces such as Saskatchewan, there is a dire need for tech-based workers. However, the Canadian workforce supply is severely lacking. The Tech Talent Pathway, a new tech immigration program announced this year, will help immigrants in their pursuit of becoming Canadian permanent residents. International workers in Saskatchewan can apply and be eligible for the pathway via a work permit such as the PWGP. They must have worked for an employer for at least six months (full-time) or at least one year of work experience. Those outside the province or the country will require at least one year of work experience and a full-time offer for a tech-based position.Other requirements needed to be eligible for this pathway:
  • English or French Language score of 5 or higher based on the Canadian Language Benchmark (minimum score of 7 for Express Entry).
  • Eligible for Saskatchewan Licensing
  • Post-Secondary Education
